We were delighted when M&S announced they were going to send a team of volunteers to help give our outdoor area a bit of TLC during their National Volunteer Day in early June. Despite some looming clouds and the odd drop of rain, the afternoon was a great success, with 20 volunteers (and about 15 little people) getting stuck into a whole manner of jobs. Fence painting, pressure washing, cleaning out the wendy house and shed, painting over the old mural, window cleaning, weeding and planting, to name but a few.
Our enormous thanks to the wonderful team of 11 volunteers from M&S High Wycombe, Marsh and Princes Risborough who worked tirelessly to achieve the long list of jobs we'd challenged ourselves to complete. Thank you!
We were delighted to learn our grant application to the Coop Local Community fund was successful! We will feature as one of their local three charities in 2019, which members near the Walters Ash and Princes Risborough stores can support us until October.
Our ambition is to enable the children within our setting to explore, learn, and develop confidence and self esteem, through hands on experiences in our outdoors environment. We hope to invest in new sports and fitness resources, grow plants and flowers to share for the benefit of our local community and introduce teaching resources to nurture ‘healthy minds’ in our children, staff and parent community. We're delighted to announce that from the Autumn Term 2018 we will be accepting application for 2 year olds. Places will be limited, so if you are interested do give our Administrator Natalie a call on 07502 198 405 to find out more.
We were delighted to have Anthony, who runs a local carpet cleaning business, to come in this evening and donate his services to clean all our floors...free of charge! Thank you to Alison for the introduction and to Anthony for making our carpets, rugs, kitchen and toilet floors beautifully clean (and practically sparkling!) once again. If you're looking for a professional carpet, upholstery or tile floor cleaning service - do give him a call on 07462 900 999 or email firstname.lastname@example.org
Following pond discussions yesterday one of the children bought in some tadpoles. It was super to see them in 'real life' and the children had an opportunity to look at them using magnifying glasses. One of the children was inspired to draw a picture and put it on our pond display. A little over a week later and one of the tadpoles (pictured) had transformed into a frog and was delighted to be released into his new home.
We've been busy finishing off a few jobs since the BIG Spring Clean in April, and now have two tables to extend our mud kitchen play area. Thanks to Leon who built them from old wooden palettes, kindly donated by Stuart at Blanchfords in Princes Risborough. It's great to recycle old items into something that can encourage plenty of imaginative play in our preschoolers.
We're delighted to see that our local park is finally open for the summer, following a period of closure for renovation. Many thanks to our local councillors for their efforts to raise funds to replace the existing equipment which was starting to deteriorate. It's a wonderful place for our local community to come and play away an hour or three. The children can enjoy the new 'bumpy' slide and shop area, basket swing, see-saw, witch's hat and shelter. Hope to see you there!
We held our Easter Celebration on Wednesday 28th March and a fun time was had by all. Mrs Grimsey strolled over from St Johns School next door to judge our Easter bonnet competition, and the children thoroughly enjoyed looking for 'egg marks the spot' Easter bunny hunt. Thanks to all those who organised and supported the event, the funds raised enabled us to purchase many items for our forthcoming BIG Spring Clean.
