The Foundation Stage Curriculum
As an OFSTED registered setting our planning and teaching is underpinned by the Curriculum Guidance for the Foundation Stage. The document identifies 6 areas of learning and developmental stages that children need to go through in order to progress with confidence into Key Stage 1 at the end of their reception year. are:
The 6 areas of learning are:
- Personal, Social and Emotional Development
- Communication, Language and Literacy
- Mathematical Development
- Knowledge and Understanding of the World
- Physical Development
- Creative Development
Throughout a session all 6 areas will be planned for. During their time at Windmills, your child will be observed and assessed, and their progress recorded in a ‘Record of Achievement’ by their key worker. This document is based on the Foundation Stage and can be viewed by parents at any time – although we would encourage you to make an appointment.
